My Story

I can vividly remember, as a teenager, being folded over in pain after a meal, and hesitating wanting to eat out because I was unsure if an outing would have me reeling in pain for hours, or send me to the restroom for the rest of the evening. What was labeled as IBS and something I’d have to live with, would stick with me for decades. As a young adult my weight fluctuated no matter what "diet" I followed. At one point I had high triglycerides, all sorts of skin rashes, digestive issues, and off the charts CRP. These issues affected not only my physical body, but also played a huge role in my mental well-being; it got to a point where I developed OCD, lived with depression, and at times, debilitating stress that would lead to panic attacks.

Little did I know at the time, the gut plays a huge role in the production of neurotransmitters, and the role those play in one's mental stability, hormones and digestion. Knowing there must be more that could be done to find balance, I did my best to piece things together, but still trusted what the doctors said.

It wasn't until my second baby was born that I started to dive deep into alternative healing modalities. My son suffered for the first years of his life with “chronic” issues, and something inside me told me I can no longer trust what I was being told by doctors. There has to be more to what I was being told. This started a mission to get my boy healthy and thriving.

I came upon homeopathy, naturopathy, and functional medicine. I was amazed at how much scientifically backed information I found around finding balance within the body. With the information I gathered, I felt more confident to became an advocate for my son, pushing back when I was told to just “wait 6 more weeks as test results were once again inconclusive”.

Through this process my eyes were opened and I took not just my son’s health, but also my own, and that of the rest of my family, in my own hands, realizing the “care” we were getting in the conventional setting was not working for us; for our goal of obtaining optimal health and well-being.

Over the years as I continued to absorb information, I decided that this knowledge needs to be more readily available to others. A sort of short circuit of the system needs to happen so that we are less dependent on “sick care”, and can see ourselves, and our families, thrive in mind and body, transforming the health trajectory of modern society. There is no reason one should be told they have to live with x,y or z condition for the rest of their life, or accept that ailments are “normal” for the phase of life one is in. Health is available to all, at any time. We just need to learn how to harness it.

After being in the wellness/physical health realm as a Pilates instructor for over a decade, I decided to get certified in personal and advanced nutrition; and later started the process to become an Integrative Health Practitioner (IHP). I continued my IHP studies to be able to provide functional medicine tests (IHP2), and the highest quality health and mindset coaching (Mastery, IHP2M) to others. I practice as a board certified Holisitic Health Coach.

Now close to 15 years in the wellness field, I thank God every day for being able to serve my community at this level. Although not always easy, nothing worth it is, it’s a wonderful journey helping others take control of their health.

A healthy person, is a happy person, and I believe the world needs more happiness.
